I am happy to be back at school! I had a lot of fun at my friend's wedding but I definitely missed my kiddos. This is going to be our first semi-normal week and I am so thankful for that! Hello routine! Here is a rundown for our week.
Weekly Objectives
Math: The students are taking a preassessment right this very moment! I will have them scored by tomorrow so we can begin our new unit! Our new unit will be on multiplication and noticing it in patterns, word problems, number sentences, and real life!
Language Arts:
I would like to start DLR assessments this week. Students will take home their DLR papers on Thursday to help them review for the test on Friday. We are going to use this week as a trial run to see if this is something that we will continue doing for the rest of the year. We are continuing to work on our practice word work menu. Students are learning what the expectations are while I meet with groups. What should they be doing, what does quality work look like, and what do you do when you have a question and the teachers is with a group? Next week students will have their own words sorts and will officially get started on their own spelling list! We are also going to learn a new CAFE strategy and reflect back on our writing process from last week.
Science:
Students will research famous scientist and answer questions like:
-Why is this person famous / important?
-How have they helped our planet?
-What kind of scientist are they?
-What kind of scientist would you want to be? Why?
Texas History:
It's Freedom Week and Constitution Day! We are going to have so much fun learning about why these days are important to us!
Don't Forget:
-Wednesday is an early release day. Please make appropriate transportation arrangements.
-Agendas need to be signed every night.
FYI:
-I will send out a link to sign up for parent conferences. Parent conferences are October 8th.
-I am hoping to have grades posted online by the end of the week.
As always- let me know if you have any questions!
-Ms. Wright
