September 24th-28th

Happy Monday!
Here is a rundown of what's going on in our classroom this week!

Language Arts
This week the students are writing expository news articles using nonfiction text features. Authors use nonfiction text features to help them get their message out to their audience. Students are reading nonfiction books in their guided reading groups and using those books as a resource for their articles. We are having a lot of fun researching together! Students also started their first word sort this week. Here's hoping everything runs smoothly!

Science
We are learning about properties of matter! Students are learning about what properties of matter are and how to identify them. We have fun labs planned everyday!

Math
In math students are learning how to multiply by 10s, 100s, and 1,000s. Today we noticed patterns in our multiplication and learned that multiplying larger numbers doesn't have to be difficult! We are also using the break apart method to help us solve challenging math facts.

Texas History
This week we are talking about the people of the Western Hemisphere. Students will discuss how geography effect patterns of movement and settlement.
