Language Arts
This week we are transferring our wonderful sensory writing skills over to other forms of writing. Instead of focusing on poetry, students will use sensory details in personal narratives and expository text. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it improves their storytelling abilities! In reading we are talking about using inferencing to determine the themes of our books. Today we talked about what theme is and some common examples. In guided reading groups we are going to look at first and third person writing.
Math
We have a math assessment on Friday! The assessment will cover 2x1 digit multiplication 2x2 digit multiplication, and basic division. This week we are continuing to practice multi-digit multiplication problems. We are also going to look at what division is and what sort of strategies we can use to solve division problems. We will not get into long division until after the assessment on Friday.
Science
In science we are continuing our study of forces and forms of energy. Students are doing a great job of differentiating between different types of energy. Today we talked about force and friction. It was a lot of fun pushing and pulling each other around :o) Be ready for an assessment coming up soon! After our assessment we will start looking at electricity! It's going to be a lot of fun!

My enrichment class is putting together care packages to send to the troops stationed overseas. We are looking for sponsors to help us send our packages off once we have them put together. If you would rather make a donation, we are collecting: playing cards, balls, thank you notes, snacks (chips, pretzels, and etc.), and puzzles.
Thanks a bunch!
