March 4th - 8th

I can't believe this week is finally here. There are so many exciting things going on! Be sure to check our calendar to find out what exciting things are happening each day. This is what we're covering in class...

Writing
It's time for Writing University! Everyday this week the the kiddos will attend two writing classes with a different fourth grade teacher. Each teacher will have a mini lesson to help students review for the writing test. When we get back from break the kiddos will put their skills to the test at Camp STAARLight.

Reading
This week we are working on summarizing nonfiction text. Students have a hard time deciphering between what needs to be included in a summary and what's extra information. They will practice writing their own summaries and picking the best summary for a short passage.

Math
This week we are going to review measurement, mass vs weight, capacity vs volume, converting units, and estimating the best measurement. We will have an assessment on Friday.

Science
We are also going to wrap up our science unit this week. We will have an assessment on Friday in class. We will review all week in class so student should be prepared! The kiddos can use the links on my website to help the review at home should they choose to.

Texas History
We are on our way to THE ALAMO as I'm writing this! Tomorrow we are going to reenact the battle as an entire grade level. It should be A LOT of fun.

Fourth Grade 411
Since we have several assessments and so much going on in class, we will not have homework this week. I will need all corrected work by Friday since grades are due over the break. I will give the kiddos time to make some corrections during class as needed.

Don't forget to turn in your picture money.

Wednesday is an early release day.

Next week is SPRING BREAK!
