Weekly Update 12/2-6

Welcome Back!
This week is relatively calm compared to the last few weeks. We do NOT have homework this week. Several students did not complete their research or Night Write over the break. Please use this time to get caught up on incomplete assignments or any papers that need corrections.

Language Arts
This week, we are circling back to expository writing. We will look at the format of expository pieces, talk about creative ways to grab the reader's attention, and continue working on writing thoughtful central ideas. In reading, we are going to read biographies and compare them to their literary non-fiction counterparts.

Math
We are going to wrap up our fraction unit this week. We will review converting fractions, modeling fractions in picture form, ordering fractions on a number-line, and comparing fractions.

Social Studies
We are going to continue learning about the Early Europeans in Texas. Students will learn about how these settlers still influence us today.

Science
We finished our unit on electricity last week. This week, we will jump into force and motion. Students will experiment with friction and learn why objects in motion don't always stay in motion.
