Good Afternoon
We've got another busy week ahead of us. Please remember to check the calendar for regular updates.
Reading
This week, we are continuing our unit on traditional literature. This week, we are also focusing on imagery. What is imagery? How do authors use similes and metaphors to create imagery? We will also continue to infer theme. Students will look at the changes characters undergo in order to help them infer the theme. Students should also be able to identify if a text is written in first or third person.
Writing
Students are writing personal narratives about a time when they were angry. We are working on keeping our writing focused on the main idea and exploding the moment to create a well-rounded writing piece. We will also work on crafting satisfying endings for our readers.
Math
The kiddos have done a GREAT job with our geometry unit. It's been very vocabulary intensive, and they've done a great job mastering it! We will take a test on Tuesdayand a review will go home tonight. We will start fraction and decimal relationships on Wednesday.
Science
This week, we will continue to look at different properties of different types of soils. What are they used for? What makes them different? Why does that matter?
Texas History
It's revolution time! We started reading about the American Revolution today in class. We will continue to read about the western colonies wanting independence from European control.
Hunger Warriors
Our collection started today! We only had one can come in this morning. Don't forget to bring in your donations. You can also donate to the Souper Bowl of Caring at your local HEB. I donated two meals for ten dollars this weekend.
