Good Morning!
Here is what our week will look like:
Writing
We are starting a new writing piece in class that will be due on Friday. I am hoping that students enjoyed their short break from personal narratives and will be ready to start refreshed this week. Students will write about a time that they learned something new. We will also spend a lot of time sharing our writing, working on writing as a class, and critiquing writing samples.
Reading
Last week, we started our new drama unit. The students had a lot of fun adding in stage directions and exposition to some Bluebonnet readers theatre scripts. We've learned a lot of new vocabulary, and will continue to use that vocabulary everyday in class. I posted a copy of the words on our Extra Copies link if you would like to look over them. This week, we are going to talk about the role of the narrator, use dialogue to identify character traits, and give a readers theatre performance to our buddy class!
Math
Our new measurement unit is well on its way. This week, we will talk about the difference between mass and weight, match appropriate units of measurement to different items being measured, and learn how to convert between different units of measurement.
Science
I hope everyone is remembering to keep up with their weather logs! Last week, we talked about how air masses form and move around the globe. On Monday, we will talk about the kind of front that is moving in and the type of changes it is bringing with it. We will also talk about how the weatherman knows how to forecast the weather. What does he look at? What tools does he use?
Texas History
We did not get a chance to take our assessment last week. Students will take the assessment on Monday, and then we will carry on into a new unit. We will learn about the Come and Take It flag hanging in our classroom. What does it mean, anyway?
