Weekly Update 2/3-7

Good Morning

Here's hoping we have a normal week this week!

Writing
This week, the kiddos are going to look at apostrophes and commas in our writing. They had some questions about them in our last writing benchmark, so I figured we would take some time to answer their questions about them. We are also going to spend some time reading over examples of writing, and what makes it good or bad.

Reading
We are starting a new unit this week - drama! Students usually love our drama unit since they get to be, well, dramatic. This week, we will learn some important vocabulary and analyze the structure of plays. Next week, we will get time to participate in readers theatre and even some improv!

Math
We will spend some time reviewing our fractions and decimal assessment this week then we will move on to our new unit, measurement. Some of our guiding questions will be: What's the difference between capacity and volume? Why is my mass different from my weight? What is my weight on the moon?

Science
We didn't get to finish up our soil unit last week like I had hoped. This week. we will review weathering, erosion, and deposition, and take our assessment on Wednesday. I will post a review game on our website for students to play. A big thanks to Mr. Grubb for putting it together. Don't forget that we have tons of great links on our website for students to use to help them review any concepts. Once we've wrapped up the soil unit, we will move on to Earth, Sun, and Moon relationships. Students are going to start logging the moon phases and weather every day. Please help your kiddos keep up with their logs.

Texas History
How will the new settlers respond when Mexico starts to enforce their laws? A revolution is on the rise! We will wrap up Unit 5 this week.
