Weekly Update 3/24-28

Good Morning!
As much as I love Camp STAARlight, I am so thankful for a normal routine. Well -what is normal this time of year? I hope everyone had a chance to look over the compliments your kiddo received on their writing pieces. We really enjoyed hearing from all of our fabulous authors!

Writing
We are NOT working on a writing piece this week :) Instead, we will focus our attention on the editing and revising portion of the assessment. Please make sure students have their purple book everyday.

Reading
This week, we are looking at ways authors organize nonfiction text. We will read several articles and discuss the author's purpose for writing about the topic and why they chose that organizational structure.

Math
We are reviewing division and double digit multiplication strategies and steps this week. We will use our problem solving skills to decide what steps we need to take in multistep division and multiplication word problems.

Science
We spent a lot of time talking about the different phases of the moon before the break. This week, we will learn why we see different parts of the moon during the month and why we have seasons here on Earth. You know, just in case spring decides to come on out!

Texas History
Texas has won it's freedom from Mexico! Now what? Will this new republic survive on it's own? Or will it seek help from a neighboring country?
