Good Morning!
A HUGE thank you to all of those who volunteered to chaperone our trip last week! The kiddos had a great time learning more about The Alamo and the different cultures in Texas. We have a pretty calm week this week. Here is what it will look like:
Writing & Texas History
Students will need to write a two page expository piece on their favorite part about The Alamo trip...Ha! Just kidding! This week students are going to pick an event in the Texas Revolution and create a comic, showing what happened and why that event was important in the fight for independence.
Reading
We are going to spend the next two weeks reviewing different genres, preparing for STAAR, and practice diving into the text to find answers to our questions. This week we will focus on fiction, nonfiction, and drama.
Math
Not only are we reviewing in reading, but we are also going to spend the next week reviewing in math. I took some time looking over some data and talking to the kiddos to figure out what we could use some "brushing up on." This week we will focus on:
Place Value
- Ordering numbers
- Comparing numbers (including decimals)
- Identifying numbers in expanded form
- Identifying numbers on a number-line
Measurement
- Reading a thermometer and finding the difference between different temperatures
- Elapsed time
Geometry
- Transformations
- Identifying angles
- Sets of lines
- Naming 2D and 3D shapes
I know that seems like a lot, but most of this should be a review with a little bit of reteach here and there.
Science
In science, we are going to talk about how people and animals meet their needs. What do we really need? How are those needs met? How is it different for animals?
