I know I always say we have a lot going on, but this week, we have A LOT going on! Please make sure you are checking out our schedule to see what's going on.
Language Arts & Social Studies
This week, we are going to do some research on Egypt! Students will learn about the people, culture, and history of Egypt. They will spend time writing poems in hieroglyphics and create a poster about everything they have learned this week. We have a special presentation on Wednesday. Three moms have graciously volunteered to put together a presentation on Egypt.
Math
This week, we are going to apply our knowledge of angles to 2D shapes. Students will classify triangles based on the types of angles they have. We will also spend time reviewing what a line of symmetry is. We will have a math assessment on Friday. Students will need to be able to: identify sets of lines in figures, classify angles, measure angles, draw angles to match a given measurement, know the difference between lines, line segments, and rays, and classify shapes based on their characteristics. Use our links to review before the assessment.
PBL
This week, students will compare their home energy audit to their school energy audit. Students will look for appliances and habits that are energy wasters. We will also compare energy usage across the schools in our district. On Wednesday, we will start creating an energy guide. Students will create a pamphlet informing people of common energy wasters at home and in the community. We are hoping to have all pamphlets finished byFriday.

Good Evening!
Did you survive the cold this weekend? I loved every second of it!
I have a few things to share with you-
1- I know that a bunch of you are drowning in due dates and homework. Let me help out with that! We will not have math or writing homework this week! Yay! I know everyone has a lot going on with science fair, ISP, getting ready for vacations, and so much more. I appreciate all you're doing to help support the 7387451045738120 things we have going on at school right now! :)
2- Would it be even better if I pushed back our upcoming SF due date? Students can turn in their research paper, hypothesis, and vocabulary words onMonday, December 1. Don't forget that their procedures and list of materials will be due on Friday, December 5. Are you struggling with writing your research paper? I can help with that, too! I posted some examples on our SF link on our website. Go check it out!
3- Students did have homework over the weekend. They need to complete a home energy audit. It should NOT take very long. I posted several audit options on our energy page. Students can pick they one they want to complete. We did a school energy audit on Friday. They will need the home energy audit on Tuesday to make comparisons.
4- I have graded all the assignment on Google Classroom. Take some time to look over them and make any necessary corrections.
5- I uploaded A BUNCH of grades to the online gradebook. Thank you for being patient with me as I got caught up on grading. I still have a few more to add in the next few days. Let me know if you have any questions. Students can ALWAYS make corrections on failing assignments.
6- We are researching Egypt for International Children's Fair this week. When you have free time (hahaha) go check out all our awesome links!
I hope all of that was helpful. Let me know if you have any lingering questions.
Hopefully I will see most of you on Thursday for International Night!
