I am sorry I am sending this out late this week. I spent most of yesterday and today with Ms. Stowe deciding what to do about our trip to San Antonio. I am so sad that we had to cancel it! This website has a great virtual tour of The Alamo. You may want to check it out!
Camp STAARlight is right around the corner. Please head over to our sign up page for more information. We are in desperate need of parents to help set up.
We started a new fundraiser today. Students went home with all of the important information. Don't forget to register even if you don't raise any pledges. Students will get a homework pass when we have the entire class registered! Please read through all of the information before you send me your questions. I've been told that the booklet was very informative!
Don't forget to check out our calendar!
Here is what we have going on for the rest of the week...
Reading & Texas History
This week we have been combining our love of Texas History and readers theatre. Students were assigned roles in our Texas Revolution play. We will record our performance on Thursday and turn it into a movie. We have also divided the play into scenes and added stage directions by inferring character behavior. It has been a lot of fun! On Friday the entire grade level will reenact the Battle of the Alamo out on the playground!
Writing
We are currently working on a personal narrative. Students are finishing up writing about a time they tried something new. For spelling, all students will need to practice their drama vocabulary using quizlet.
Math
We are taking a math benchmark tomorrow. Other than that, we have been looking at ways to organize data. We have been practicing using dot plots, data tables, frequency tables, and stem-and-leaf tables. We will NOT have math homework this week since it did not come in from the printer on time. It will resume again next week.
Science
We really enjoyed creating circuits last week. This week we are going to discuss what a circuit needs to form a complete path. We will practice making circuits with switches to see how that will effect our outcomes. The assessment has been pushed back to next week. Thank you for being so flexible. Here is a link to practice science terms for the assessment.
Fourth Grade 411
-Our trip to San Antonio has been canceled due to a potential for inclimate weather.
-Check the calendar to stay current on all the things happening in fourth grade!
-Don't forget to take the parent survey! We only had 10% parent participation last year. We would love 25% participation this year.
