Weekly Update 4/6-10

Good Morning!

We have a pretty calm week ahead of us - finally!
Students have math, vocabulary, and social studies homework. All assignments are due on Friday.

Here is a look at our week...

Language Arts
This week we are going to look at strategies to help us decode unfamiliar words in our reading. This is a skill we typically struggle with. We will talk about prefixes, suffixes, root words, using context clues, and making inferences to help us with new words. We will also review summarizing strategies since that is also a skill fourth graders typically struggle with. Don't forget to use iStation and IXL for extra practice at home. Only a few more weeks and then we will officially be out of STAAR Season :)

Math
We are also going to spend the next two weeks reviewing in math. This week we will focus on comparing decimals, adding decimals, comparing fractions, and measuring angles. IXL offers great skill practice on these concepts. If you're looking for a more challenging review, students can always login to ThinkThroughMath for problem solving practice.

Science
We are having so much fun learning about ecosystems. This week we will look at the relationships between organism in an ecosystem. We will talk about the differences between food chains and food webs, and the different kinds of consumers.
