Weekly Update 4/11-15

Good Afternoon

We had a GREAT time at the Empty Bowls Festival! They had the opportunity to talk with a city councilman, a member of the RRISD Board of Directors, and Dr. Flores! Students collected donations that they were able to give to Lori Scott, the director of the Round Rock Serving Center. Thank you so much for bringing your kiddos!

This week:

Language Arts
We are continuing to read drama and perform our own reader's theatre! Don't forget to use iStation for online practice. The kiddos know how to access this wonderful resource!

Math
We are going to spend some time discussing units of measurements and simple conversions. You can help your child practice this at home. Have them help you measure out ingredients in the kitchen, measure the perimeter and the area of your living room. Include students in estimates of gas prices and how many gallons your car holds. The world is filled with measurements that we just need to expose our little ones to!

Science
We are continuing to learn about animal and plant adaptations. Today, the kiddos started a lab on the benefits of wax coatings. Tomorrow, we will plant some succulents and discuss their adaptations.

Social Studies
Texas was once it's own country - did you know that? However, our great state was quickly picked up by the United States of America. We're going to learn about the annexation of Texas this week!

Fourth Grade 411
- Regular homework this week. Feel free to use IXL, Think Through Math, and iStation for extra practice at home.
- Check out our calendar for important dates!
