Weekly Update 4/4-8

Good Morning!

I hope everyone enjoyed the BEAUTIFUL weather this weekend. It was absolutely gorgeous. I hope y'all plan on joining us for the kiddos final Hunger Hero event at the Empty Bowls Festival at Cedar Ridge High school. You can sign up for your kiddo to have an opportunity to share their passion to end hunger, here. Thank you for all your support this year. It means so much to us!

Language Arts
Writing STAAR = DONE! Yes! Finally! We are going to take a well needed break from writing this week and focus all our attention on drama. Students will start a new unit on drama (plays) and how playwright's organize the text and share information with the audience and actors. Lots of reader's theatre headed our way!

Math
We are going to spend the week reviewing division and working toward some STAAR prep with high level problem solving and discussion in the classroom. If you're looking for extra practice, please don't forget about Think Through Math. It's an amazing online program that the state purchases for all schools. That's how awesome this program is.

Science
We are starting a new unit on adaptations. We will discuss how living things are adapted to survive in their environment. This is always a popular unit. Everyone loves animals!

Social Studies
We are getting ready for our final Hunger Hero event this week. Students will practice speaking to adults and sharing their knowledge, finish up decorations, and put together a brochure on ways to help stop hunger in our community.
