October 15th-19th

We've got another busy week ahead of us! I must admit that I like it when we're busy :o)
Don't forget that we have a science test on Monday and a math test on Wednesday. I've updated our calendar, so be sure to check it out!

Math: We are wrapping up our algebraic expressions unit and moving on to measurement! We are only focusing on temperature, elapsed time (usually a tough one), and constructing bar graphs. We will get to weight, capacity, and etc. later on in the year. Students have an assessment on Wednesday!

Language Arts: Last week the kiddos completed their expository writing. This week we are jumping in to procedural text, transition words, and prepositions. Students will be assigned a take home project on Monday. It will not be due until October 29th. We want to give students plenty of time to work on both their science fair projects & procedural text writing. Writing procedural text is A LOT of fun. I always look forward to the cool things they turn in for their projects!

Texas History: We have another big project starting this week! Students are going to write about a Native American tribe of their choosing. They will have certain criteria to meet according to which project they choose to complete. A green paper went home about the project on Friday. Please let me know if you would like another! Visual aids may be worked on at home and at school on the last two days of the week. The majority of the students' grades will come from their written assignment.

Science: We have a test on Monday! Students are wrapping up their matter unit and getting ready to move on to forces. So exciting! Students need to submit their research question for Science Fair by Friday. I can't wait to hear what they come up with!
