Can I tell you how perfect your kiddos are? Because they are.
Last week we had a new student join our class and the kiddos were practically falling over themselves to help her out. They made her a card, helped her find things around the classroom, and wrote her several compliments in our class meeting box. Did I mention that they took it upon themselves to do all of this? Honestly, I am so blessed to spend my days with your children.
Okay-enough with the mushy stuff. Here is what we are up to...
Reading
We wrapped up our traditional literature study on Friday! Today we are moving into drama and reader's theatre. Mrs. Kuperscztoch found us some GREAT scripts that were adapted from Bluebonnet Books! Fun! We are going to spend some time practicing our reading fluency while learning about the different aspects of drama.
Writing
We have a practice STAAR assessment this week on Thursday and Friday. The kiddos will write the expository piece on Thursday and the personal narrative piece on Friday. They will take the multiple choice portion of the test on both days. We are going to review expository writing this week in order to prep kiddos for the assessment. We worked on expository writing before the break, so we thought it would be a nice refresher before the practice assessment.
Math
We are moving on from fractions and decimals (finally!) and looking at perimeter, area, and measurement. They've already got a good grasp on it! We would love to borrow Legos this week to practice our measurement with! Please send in any you are willing to share.
Science
This week we are looking at weather and how scientist predict the weather. This should be pretty interesting considering the weather here in Texas is crazy. It's also a great week to jump in on this topic since we've got lots of changes in the forecast this week.
Texas History
Did you know that Texas is the only state that used to be a country! This week we are going to look at life after the revolution.
Fourth Grade 411
This time of year always remind me that there is no such thing as a 'normal' week.
-Picture Day is TOMORROW!
-The 100th Day of School is TOMORROW!
-We have an early release day on Wednesday.
Please make sure you have made the appropriate arrangements.
-We have the practice STAAR assessments all day Thursday and Friday. Please make sure your child will be here since we will be collecting very important data.
The kiddos do not have regular homework and spelling this week. They do have a weather and moon phase chart that they need to fill out every night for the rest of the month. I also have a bunch of weather, moon, and writing links posted that the kiddos can practice with this week!
Don't forget our party is coming up. We look forward to seeing you there!
Let me know if you have any questions!
