March 25th - 29th

Good Afternoon!!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend.
Camp Starlight was WONDERFUL!! Thank you to all the mommas who helped setup/take down our decorations. The kiddos were quite sad to see it all gone today.

It's a short and busy week this week.
It's probably the only semi-normal week we will have for awhile :o)

Reading
This week we are going to look at summarizing fiction and nonfiction. What needs to be included? What should be left out? How are the summaries different? This is a common question found on STAAR and is one kiddos tend to struggle with.

Writing
Today we talked about different prompts that would work with the stories we have already written in class. Students will be able to rewrite a story on the day of STAAR, if it fits the prompt. We are also going to review grammar rules.

Math
We started our geometry unit last week! Everyone seems to love geometry the most. This week we are focusing on 2D and 3D shapes. What are their attributes, and how do we use those attributes to classify them? Today we started making a flow chart for classifying 2D shapes.

Science
We are also starting a new science unit! We are going to look at animal adaptations, needs, environments, and life cycles. For some reason this tends to be the most popular unit. I wonder why? :o)

Fourth Grade 411
-Report cards will go home on Thursday. All grades are already posted online should you want to check them out now.
-We do not have homework this week. The kiddos worked SO HARD last week and they will work even harder next week. Should you want to review STAAR writing questions with your kiddos: here is a link to TEA's website of released test questions
-No school on Friday
-Don't forget STAAR writing is April 2nd & 3rd. That's NEXT WEEK! I can't believe it.
-If you have any pictures from our field trip-I would love a copy! I only had my phone and the pictures didn't turn out so great.
-No tutoring afterschool next week.

Let me know if you have questions!
