It's a well known fact that students lose information when they are not in school for longer periods of time. Here are some ideas of ways you can practice your skills at home over the break!
Come on- at least read over the list. You might find something to catch your eye!
Writing
-Write about the best thing you got over the break. Why was it your favorite? What made it so special?
-Keep a journal of all your fun winter activities. E-mail it to your teacher :)
-Write a poem about your favorite part of the holidays. Illustrate your poem in Google Drawing.
Reading
-Read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read, and did I mention read? No- Diary of a Wimpy Kid doesn't count. Remember what Phil Bildner suggested? Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new!
Science
-Your science fair project is due sooner than you think. Why don't you get your experiment knocked out while you have a few days off? It's better than having to work on it when we get back.
Science Fair + Night Writes + Homework = no fun!
Math
-Have you memorized all your math facts yet?
-Don't forget we have a big geometry unit coming up. Spend time creating flash cards for all that new vocabulary. Spend a few minutes everyday reviewing. You will be a math wiz when you get back!
-Division-do it :)
-Fractions leaving you frazzled? Log in to your IXL account to get some extra practice in.
-Oh, and did I forget to mention your multiplication facts?
Texas History
-Spend some time researching the Spanish and Mexican influences we see in our culture today. Why do they call it the Rio Grande? Who is Santa Anna, anyway? Why do eat so many breakfast tacos here in Texas? I think you'l be surprised at all the ways these wonderful countries continue to have an impact on us today!
