Only two weeks left!
Here is what our week is going to look like:
Language Arts
We have been talking about different ways authors try to persuade us. Last week, we started analyzing persuasive text students are most likely to happen upon, such as advertisements. We watched a short movie that shows the truth in advertising geared toward children. This week, we are going to create our own advertisements aimed to future fourth graders. Students will pick a study habit or social skill they think upcoming students need to have. They will then create a commercial persuading students to work hard to have these traits. We will work on this project for the rest of the year!
Science
We've been learning a lot about how animals adapt to survive in their environments. This week, we are going to learn about how plants adapt to survive in their environments. Today, we made a list of plant needs and how we thought they were met. Then, we observed some plants and guessed how the different adaptations help it meet its needs. At the end of the week, we will review inherited traits. If you have any family photos to share, we would love to have them! If everyone brings in photos, we can make a Trait Family Tree!
Math
We are going to spend the next two weeks reviewing problem solving strategies. All skills will be reviewed through a problem solving framework. It should be challenging and fun!
Texas History
The Civil War is over and Texas is moving on. This week we will learn about cattle drives, how rail roads changed the way Texas interacts with other states, and the discovery of oil in Texas!
