Good Afternoon!
Can you October is already coming to an end? I feel like school just started!
I have uploaded all grades and corrections to the online gradebook. Please let me know if you have any questions by the end of Monday.
This week is Red Ribbon Week. We will discuss the importance of turning away from drugs and bullying behavior. We are having some behavior issues in our classroom right now. This week would be a great time to talk to your child about the importance of being kind to everyone.
Here is a look at our upcoming week...
Reading
We are wrapping up our nonfiction unit. We will finish by practicing summarizing strategies and determining author's purpose. We will spend time reading an abundance of nonfiction text. As a group, we will find answers to common questions and support our thinking with text evidence.
Writing
We are also wrapping up our expository writing unit. We will revisit this unit later on in the year. This week, students will write about an activity they enjoy doing. We will look at the How/Why CAFE strategy to help us support our thinking. Are you working on the extra credit writing assignment? It is due on Monday, November 3.
Math
We will spend time this week reviewing place value, ways to decompose numbers, and the relationships between each place on the place value chart. Students will continue to add and subtraction decimals. We will start our timed math facts again!
Science
We will have a science assessment on Friday. There are review questions and a review game posted on our website. This week will learn about tides and why we have seasons. Make sure you are getting your weather and moon data down! It is due on Monday, November 3.
