Weekly Update 11/3-7

Good Morning

We are starting some new units this week! Read on for more information about our week.

Reading and Writing
We are starting a poetry unit! This is my favorite unit to teach. This week, we will look at examples of figurative language and discover their implied messages. We will also read and write TEN different styles of poetry! It's going to be a jam-packed week. Don't forget to check out the vocabulary page to quiz your child at home.

Math
We are also starting a new unit in math. This week, we will look at points, lines, rays, angles, lines, and line segments. Students will have to be able to identify them in everyday objects. We will also talk about the different kinds of angles we find everywhere. Don't forget to check out the vocabulary page to quiz your child at home. We will have A LOT of new vocabulary the next few weeks.

Science
We are going to work on some science fair this week. Students will write their hypothesis, create their list of vocabulary words (specific to their topic), and start their research. Any incomplete research will need to be completed at home. Research papers are due on Friday, November 21st. Students will NOT need to print them out. You can have them share their final research paper with me on Google.

Next week, we will start talking about renewable and nonrenewable resources. We will go paperless all month!
