Let's take a look at our week...
Reading
This week, we are continuing to read fiction stories. Today we read Tight Times by Barbara Shook Hazen. We will continue to read examples of fiction and discuss theme, character changes, the role of the narrator, and character relationships. At the end of the week, we will start diagramming our own fiction stories.The stories will be part of our action piece for our PBL.
Writing
This week, we are writing an expository essay on an important rule. We spent the morning coming up with ideas, narrowing down our supporting ideas, and started writing introductions. The completed pieces will be due on Friday.
Math
This week, we are moving on from geometry. Please make sure you are still practicing your vocabulary at home. We will start to discuss decimal and fraction relationships. Students will learn how fractions and decimals have a lot in common. We will learn to write numbers in both the fraction and decimal form. We will also review adding and subtracting decimals.
Science
This is our last week with ecosystems. Today, we will present our ecosystem projects to the class. Students created food webs for a specific environment. They had to identify the flow of energy from each part of the web. Ask your kiddo to see their final product!
Social Studies
Last week, we discussed the Alamo and its significance in the Texas Revolution. This week, we will continue our journey through the Texas Revolution. The anniversary of the Alamo is March 6th. We will celebrate a day early with a reenactment on the playground on Friday! It's always a lot of fun!
