Weekly Update 3/7-11

Good Morning

We have an EXCITING week ahead of us!  A huge thanks to all of you who purchased Hunger Hero shirts. I can't wait to see the kiddos in them. :)

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math
This week, the kiddos are going to power electric critters! They will be responsible for budgeting materials, designing a plan for their critter, creating a complete circuit to power their critter, describing where the critter lives, and explaining how it adapts to its environment. They will spend Monday through Wednesday making their plan. They will have most of Thursday to finally have time to put it together, using trial and error. We have NOT discussed how to create a complete circuit. Please do NOT explain it to your children in advance. We want to give them time to work like a real scientist, using educated guesses and learning from their mistakes. Thank you!

Language Arts
It's Writing University here at Elsa England! Each week the kiddos are going to visit a new teacher to review strategies for creating the best writing possible. It's always a lot of fun! We started the week off by discussing introductions and conclusions this morning. Check out my Twitter for a quick video.

Education Go Get It
This week is Education Go Get It Week! Students will learn all about different ways to extend their education after high school. At the end of the week, they will turn in a small project about the school of their choice. They will be able to explain why they want to attend that school, how much it will cost, where it is located, and the kinds of programs they hope to benefit from at that school. Students can dress for the job they want on Wednesday. On Friday they can wear a college T-shirt. **Please send me a link to the school you, or a loved one, attended. We would like for the kiddos to have the opportunity to research where you extended your education!**
