January 14th-18th

Hello!

Don't forget that I will be out on Monday for a writing training. I'll keep my phone nearby should you have any questions about Science Fair!

This is what out week will look like...

Math
We are shifting our focus from fractions to decimals. The kiddos picked up fractions really quickly! This week we talk about how fractions and decimals both represent a part of a whole. We will start the unit by looking at monetary amounts and how they are just one way we see decimals everyday.

Reading
This week we are still reading examples of traditional literature. We will continue looking at theme, but we are adding in character development. How have the characters changed from the beginning to the end of the story? We will use those changes to help us infer the theme/moral of the story.

Writing
The kiddos did such a great job writing their personal narratives last week and practicing writing interesting beginnings to their stories. We are going to continue working on personal narratives and hooks, but this week we are adding in quality endings. We want to make sure that our readers are satisfied at the end of the story.

Science
In science we are continuing our unit on solid. This week we are going to talk about weathering, erosion, and deposition. With all this rain we've had recently I'm sure we could find so e great examples around the neighborhood!

Texas History
The Colonists are angry with the Mexican government and are ready to take action. This week we are going to continue our discussion about their particular grievances and how they plan to take action.

Fourth Grade 411
Don't forget Science Fair projects are due on Thursday!

Let me know if you have any questions!
